Top 3 Runs On Boston's South Shore

As part of your goal of staying fit and focused for family, it's important not to lose sight of your fitness goals amidst the endless distractions of Summer.  Last night RaceWire emailed me about the South Shore Half Marathon in November (RaceWire's events are awesome - I did their Lake Placid Marathon back in June) and I thought it was a great way of getting something on the calendar to keep focus my fitness goals.  Now I have something to work toward, which is a HUGE part of a lifelong fitness strategy.

The next question is where should I run (it may also be how do I avoid boredom while running!)

How about the Top 3 Runs on Boston’s South Shore!

1)  Jerusalem Road - Cohasset Fit_and_Focused_Family_Runs

As a somewhat new resident of Cohasset I was blown away the first time I saw Jerusalem Rd.  Amazing properties, fantastic homes, and unforgettable elevated views of the Atlantic Ocean.  Cars drive very slowly so you can run comfortably.  A run along JR takes you past Sandy Beach, one of my favorite places on the South Shore for relaxation.

2)  Wompatuck State Park – HinghamFit_and_Focused_Family_Runs

I relied heavily on the park when I trained for the Lake Placid Marathon earlier this year.  It's very active with runners, bikers, campers, etc; good company as you pound the pavement.  The park's undulating road with its ups and downs is great for conditioning your legs for hills.  MAIN HIGHLIGHT: Mt. Blue Spring and its natural spring water is the stuff of runners' dreams.  You’ll see people drive up to the spring with empty bottles and stock up on reserves.

3)  Natasket Beach – Hullfit_and_focused_family_runs

The strip along Natasket Beach is bustling on nice days during the week and especially on weekends.  It's a great place to run with awesome views (heading away from the mainland you have ocean on your right and The World’s End on your left) and designed well for a nice out-and-back 6 miles loop.
